Sad Day for Chesterfield Schools 1 Year ago

The Chesterfield County Democratic Committee is disappointed that Chesterfield County's public school officials have chosen to pass on the opportunity to have students watch and hear President Barack Obama address school students across the country.
President Obama's remarks, to be delivered live on September 8th at noon, will describe to students the importance of their taking responsibility for their own education and will challenge them to set goals and to do everything they can to succeed. Although Chesterfield's students are being denied the opportunity to see the broadcast live, it will be available on the Internet at Whitehouse.gov/live and on cable TV on C-SPAN.
It is always a sad day for the United States when partisan vitriol is allowed to dominate the opportunity for reasoned discourse. It is particularly sad when the result is the denial of the opportunity for students in Chesterfield County or elsewhere to hear an important, supportive message from the President of the United States.
